SESSION TITLE: Coaching Skills For Leading At Any Level

SESSION DESCRIPTION:

Coaching can be an effective strategy to improve communication, productivity, and performance at all levels of an organization. You don’t have to be a professional coach to adopt coaching skills in your work. As a credentialed coaches, I have seen the power of coaching in supervision, leadership, and board management. Experiences will be shared about using coaching at the staff and organizational levels and discuss how using a coaching approach has shifted the way we communicate.


This presentation will focus on principles of coaching, including foundational ICF core competencies, active listening strategies, and coaching for improved communication. During the session, participants will learn basic coaching skills, practice coaching their peers, and identify ways to integrate coaching into their everyday work. Participants will leave with a better understanding of what coaching is, how to utilize coaching in their own leadership, and additional resources for continued learning.

Speaker BIO:

Luke Davis holds over twenty years of extensive experience as a distinguished leader in higher education and an accomplished non-profit executive, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, program management, and people leadership. He holds a master’s degree in Adult & Higher Education from the University of Missouri and a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University. Additionally, he holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Senior Certified Professional from the Society of Human Resources (SHRM-SCP), Certified Association Executive (CAE) as well as being an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from the International Coaching Federation.

Currently, Luke serves as the Vice President & Chief Staff Officer of ICF Coaching Education at the International Coaching Federation, where he spearheads initiatives to advance coach education, community development and organizational accreditation.

Alli has spent the least ten years working in higher education and association management, with a focus on coaching, leadership development, volunteer management, cross-functional collaboration, and learning & development. Her current role as Director of Strategic Initiatives with ICF Coaching Education allows her to lead collaborative projects and drive the achievement of strategic objectives for the ICF Coaching Education team.

Alli holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Evaluation – Higher Education, a master’s degree in College Student Personnel, and a bachelor’s in biology and Spanish. Her dissertation focused on the impact of coaching on the development of self-authorship and agency for undergraduate students. She also holds a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) Credential from the International Coaching Federation, and is certified in Gallup Clifton Strengths, EQi 2.0 and EQi 360, Mental Health First Aid, and mindfulness.
