Attire and Preparations for Women Who Count Conference 2023!

Dear AFWA Board of Directors, Member Attendees, Guests, Sponsors, and Exhibitors,

I hope this message finds you in great spirits and high energy. As we gear up for the much-anticipated Women Who Count Conference 2023, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates and plans that will make this year’s event truly unforgettable.

Our conference, taking place from October 25th to 27th, 2023, in the vibrant city of Reno, Nevada, promises to be a gathering of inspiration, education, and empowerment for all participants. As the driving force behind the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance, your presence and active participation play a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success.

Conference Highlights and Attire:

Tuesday, October 24: Thursday evening at 7:00pm we are showing the Barbie Movie!

Movie night is featuring the billion dollar movie! Barbie! This movie has brought to light the empowerment of women this year! We will have a brief personal development discussion enable to offer another CPE to the conference. Bring your Best Barbie Dress to the Wild Wild West! (No PJ’s) Prizes will be given away for the best dressed!

Wednesday, October 25- Showcasing YOU: This year, we want to highlight you as one of our esteemed Board of Directors member. On Day 1, we invite the AFWA Board of a Directors, as a group, to take the stage during Opening Ceremony wearing the distinctive AFWA lime green polo shirt, jeans, and optional cowboy boots. If you don’t already have the lime AFWA polo, you can purchase it here. This day is a celebration of your commitment and dedication to AFWA. We want to introduce you to the attendees. Attendees feel free to wear you AFWA wear if you have any!

ATTIRE: Lime green AFWA polo shirt and jeans. For Board of Directors only. Boots are optional and attendees feel free to wear your AFWA wear!

Thursday, October 26- Company Spirit: On Day 2, we encourage all attendees to wear their company’s shirts, showcasing their professional pride. Board Members, you’re welcome to join in by wearing your company’s logo on a shirt as well. Please note this is optional.

ATTIRE: Company logoed shirts (optional)

Thursday, October 26- Signature Event- Ballgowns and Boots: For our evening Signature Event, “The Signature Event,” we’re combining elegance and a touch of western flair with the theme “Ballgowns and Boots.” Attendees are encouraged to embrace this unique dress code, and Board Members are warmly invited to participate, too.

ATTIRE: Formal wear. Boots are optional. Heels and flats are also acceptable.

Friday, October 27- Chapter Spirit: Let’s bring our AFWA chapter unity to the forefront on Day 3. Chapters are encouraged to show their spirit by dressing in a way that reflects their identity or where they hail from. Whether through coordinated attire or thematic elements, this is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our organization.

ATTIRE: Anything that represents your chapter. If you are a member at large, you may dress in something that represents your state (optional).

October 27- Closing Ceremony: We will be announcing where the conference is headed!

Directors please review Grace’s email that she sent regarding the closing ceremony. Everyone else enjoy a casual travel day send off!

ATTIRE: Travel day causal.

Your enthusiastic participation not only enriches the conference experience but also inspires others to engage fully in our AFWA community. Together, we will make this conference a resounding success and continue to uplift and empower women in the accounting and financial field.
